Window Treatment Color Trend Report —2019
While 2018 was dominated by bold, edgy hues like saturated reds and vibrant purples, 2019 color trends are shifting to ones that convey authenticity, timelessness and a playful expression.
2019 Colors of the Year
Some of 2019’s colors of the year include Benjamin Moore® Metropolitan (an understated yet elegant gray with cool undertones), Behr® Blueprint (a soft, warm blue reminiscent of builders’ blueprints) and Sherwin-Williams® sunset-inspired Cavern Clay (a sandy, orange hue that exudes the peacefulness of the outdoors). Each creates the perfect canvas for consumers to make their own unique statement.
These on-trend colors are flourishing well beyond paints to furnishings, artwork and accents like pillows, tableware and window treatments. Hunter Douglas colors, for instance, range from creamy blues and grays and jewel tones to earthy reds and oranges — so they’ll work well with any style of décor.
Back to Nature
For a natural, organic look, you might consider warm terracottas, misty blues, forest greens or wood-inspired colors (like Cavern Clay described above). Woven wood shades, such as Provenance® Woven Wood Shades come in numerous colors and are made from materials found in nature including reeds, woods, bamboo and grasses.
Elegance Is In
If you want a more modern, elegant feel, you might consider gold, mauve or other rich colors. Keep in mind, if your room is small, darker shades can be overpowering, so you may want to use these colors sparingly. Behr’s Inspired Curation palette features jewel tones in mauve, gold and dark greens. Try matching upholstery and other fabrics in complementary colors. Or think about Roman shades in a rich merlot or deep dark gray. Vignette® Modern Roman Shades are available in a variety of luxurious colors and textures, and they have no exposed rear cords for an elegant, clean look.
Expect the Unexpected
Color leader, Pantone®, is also turning to uplifting colors and neutrals in unexpected combinations. So say you have earth tones in a room, you could add visual interest with gold or copper accents or light wood accessories. Duette® Honeycomb Shades come in hundreds of trending colors and patterns that pair well with any style from contemporary to traditional.
In 2019, the mindset is about having fun and exploring your own unique look with edgier color palettes and authentic designs.
Hunter Douglas window treatments feature so many colors, patterns and designs, you’re sure to find a style to fit your taste. Unleash your imagination and create color combinations that are uniquely you.
