Your smartphone or tablet must have an internet connection for setup and use of a PowerView Gen 3 system. This connection can simply be a cellular data connection, or you could connect to Wi-Fi if you have access to the local network. The PowerView Gateway needs to be connected to the internet (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet) in order to use RemoteConnect™. Your smartphone or tablet must also have a data connection in order to access your PowerView shades remotely. If your Gateway isn’t connected to the internet, you will not be able to fully access your shades remotely, and you will not receive Gateway firmware updates.
