Hunter Douglas Elevates Smart Shades for Home Tech Pros with the New Custom Integrator Program

With a design-first approach and custom window coverings that work with major home automation platforms, Hunter Douglas brings their new integrator program to CEDIA Expo 2019.

DENVER, CO (September 10, 2019)—CEDIA Expo, Hunter Douglas Kiosk, Control4 Booth #3013—Homeowners are driving the convergence of smart home and design as they seek both a seamless and beautiful experience in renovation projects and new home builds. Smart and motorized window treatments are a growing opportunity for home technology professionals to offer their clients enhanced experiences with natural light management, privacy and comfort. Today, Hunter Douglas, the world's leading manufacturer of custom window treatments, is announcing a new initiative that provides training, tools and resources specifically for CEDIA industry professionals to add quality smart shading to their repertoire. Hunter Douglas will be returning to CEDIA Expo to unveil their Custom Integrator Program (CIP) and demo their technology platform with their custom shade line in a kiosk in the Control4 booth #3013.

The Hunter Douglas Custom Integrator Program gives home technology professionals access to the complete Hunter Douglas portfolio of world-class window treatment designs. It brings a custom approach with color, fabric, size and shape choices to suit any smart home, theater or whole-home project instead of offering one-shade-to-fit-most installations. CIP is open to authorized integrators of home-control systems such as Elan, Control4, Crestron, Savant, RTI or URC, and begins with CIP sales and installer training, which provides instruction and education on things like shade sizing and configurations, impact of color and fabric choices on natural light control, and best practices for integrating the advanced Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation operating system into any project. Integrators in the program will benefit from quoting tools, discounted shades for their own home and custom display discounts, along with access to online ordering on the Hunter Douglas portal.

With an expertise in design and unique to the industry offerings, Hunter Douglas has a legacy of innovation and quality and provides both motorized and smart options for dozens of its treatment styles. The PowerView® Automation wireless operating system allows users to raise or lower shades using the app or the Pebble Remote Control. PowerView Automation is compatible with most major smart-home and home automation brands including Apple HomeKit, Control4, Crestron, Elan, Universal Remote Control, RTI and Savant, as well as Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant and more.

“We’re able to offer custom window coverings that are stylish, diverse AND smart—this presents an opportunity for dealers to bring a new feature that enhances their customer experience, as well as to capture new business as homeowners who seek shading solutions are also looking for “smart” ones that are compatible with existing tech in the home they know and love,” said Scott Stephenson, Director of Product Management, Motorization, at Hunter Douglas. “With the Custom Integrator Program, we want to give home-technology professionals a way to expand their business and create greater profitability. Hunter Douglas window treatments are beautifully designed but simple to add to any project with tools, services and training designed for home-technology professionals.”

In addition to training and access to the full Hunter Douglas product line, integrators also receive sampling and presentation tools to demonstrate the quality and capabilities of Hunter Douglas smart shades to clients. For help installing window treatments, the Hunter Douglas Installation Service (HDIS) is also available as an end-to-end solution that guarantees accurate measuring and proper shade installation, delivered by a nationwide network of independent partners. Using HDIS also guarantees that the order is placed correctly, and includes a one-year guarantee on the installation itself as well as a five-year warranty on PowerView and a lifetime warranty on the shades.
