Seasonal Window Fashion Considerations

Despite our best intentions, it usually takes a party—at our house—to spur our home improvement projects into action. With the holidays approaching, we're guessing you're hosting at least one big event at your house. Before you tackle the first item on your home improvement list, keep in mind these 2006 design trends.

Color
Neutral colors are now dominating the decorating landscape, including brown, beige and linen. Deep grays are also popular and black (New York City's perennial favorite) is making a comeback, especially when paired with red or white. Other colors getting attention from designers: lavender, peach, teal, bamboo, green and dark purples. Virtually all Hunter Douglas window fashions come in a variety of colors. When you visit a Product Detail page within the Our Products section, just look for the "Material/Color Details" link for product-specific information.

Fabrics and Materials
Linens, paired with silk and velvet, are gaining popularity, and wood, always a crowd pleaser, is topping interior design lists for 2006, particularly the lighter finishes. For wood window fashions, consider our popular Heritance® hardwood shutters, Country Woods wood blinds, Crosswinds™ wood vertical blinds or our premium Alustra® Genuine Woods horizontal blinds. Plenty of Hunter Douglas window treatments offer linen and linen-like fabrics, including Duette® and Applause® honeycomb shades, Vignette® Modern Roman Shades and Silhouette® window shadings, with the Signature S-Vane™, Luminette® Privacy Sheers and Alouette® LightLouvers. And virtually every product in our exclusive Alustra Collection offers a selection of linen and silk fabrics.

Styles
Classic styles with decidedly modern touches are still in vogue, as are designs that highlight natural materials. When it comes to natural fabrics, our Provenance® woven wood shades—which feature a unique blend of wood, reeds, grasses and bamboo—beautifully showcase them.

Time Saving
It will obviously take some time to complete your home improvement project. But if your project includes Hunter Douglas window fashions, you won't have to bother with them once they're up. Hunter Douglas window fashions are designed to require minimal care and cleaning, which means you can spend less time cleaning and more time enjoying family, friends and your holiday festivities. Many of our fabrics are dust, soil and stain resistant, and our aluminum shades are treated with a proprietary dust-repellent coating.
